Blues Bands Community

[music |Robert Johnson - Robert Johnson - Crossroads]

Hey, I just found the community. Thought I stop in a offer a few thoughts.

I've been palying guitar for the last 14 years (most of which is the blues). Off all of the other music forms out there, blues (to me) seems the most pure, the most honest form of expression.

Regardless of whether you're into Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Little Walter, BB King, SRV, Eric Clapton, KWS or anybody else for that matter. Listen close and you'll here something that you don't hear in alot of the other music of today...Soul.

That's my 2 cents anyway.

Yes, you are entirely correct, Mr Digitalgargoyle. Blues is much more nutritious than the plastic mass-produced piffle out there, foisted on us by cloth-eared radio stations and record companies. As bluesmen, it is up to us to lead the way. More power to you.
Who is this other fellow who thinks Blues Traveller is a blues band????!

Re: agree

I agree, whole heartedly with what you said brother.

However, I don't fault "Skier" for thinking that Blues Traveler is a blues band. To the younger generation of today, Blues Traveler might be the closest thing to blues that they've heard. Can you blame the average young listener though: harp and guitar?

That being said though, there is such a rich history and legacy of blues music out there and it's vanishing before our eyes. The best we (as musicians) can do is to continue to play the songs by those artists that influenced us. Thereby preserving and continuing in our own small way, to keep the blues alive.

Blues and .....age

We are a young Blues Band in Holland called The Rhythm Chiefs.
Our age 15,16,17 years, we are trying our best to keep the Blues alive.
Not easy, because the average visitor of the Blues Clubs we are playing is around 50.
We try to add something as well otherwise the Blues will become ready for the museum.
There are a lot of discussions in our country how pure you can keep this music.
Some people believe that you have to be black, poor and unhappy which we aren't.
Anyway we do our best.
Gr. Dusty, Danny and Rafael.
PS.We are new here and our profile is not ready yet, sorry
